(January 1 - February 9, 2015)
"THE CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART"
Joshua 5:1-3, 8-9, NKJV
[1] So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel.
[2] At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time."
[3] So Joshua made flint knives for himself, and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.
[8] So it was, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed.
[9] Then the LORD said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.
When Israel came out of Egypt, and crossed over the Red Sea, they had been circumcised before they took their journey in the wilderness, because, they Lord would not accomplish much with them, unless the men were circumcised according to the Lord's instructions. In fact, no male stranger was permitted to eat the Passover with the Israelites unless he was first circumcised, then he may sit down with the people of God and eat. (Exodus 12: 44, 48)
However, it is amazing that, after the men have been circumcised and they took their journey in the wilderness, they still all died in the wilderness, despite seeing the wonders of the Lord in crossing the Red Sea and all those astonishing miracles of the Raining Manna, the gushing waters from the rock, the pillar of Cloud and the pillar of Fire. Their men were circumcised, they all beheld the wonders of God in the desert, they all ate the food of the angels when they ate the Manna, they all drank from the Rock, the spiritual rock, that was following them in the wilderness (1 Cor. 10:4), yet, they all misbehaved and fumbled before Him and were all crushed in the wilderness without geting to their final destination, the Canaan Land. Something was wrong.
Then, the Lord raised up their children in their stead, the children they born in their 40 years roamiing and wandering in the wilderness. Those children grew up uncircumcised in the wilderness and they crossed over the Jordan River into the Canaan Land. Before they could begin to possess their possessions, the Lord gave the order to Joshua again:
(Verse 2.) At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time."
That is the main point of discussion. They crossed-over the Jordan River with all their grumbling hearts and stubborn spirits. They crossed over with all their heart-loads of faithlessness and unthankfulness. The grace of God carried them through the wilderness, and across the Jordan River with those ungodly attitudes in their life, but, now, beyond the Jordan River, when it was time for possessing possessions and claiming inheritances in the land the Lord had promised their forefathers; God brought down His unbroken principles:
Genesis 17:10, 14 NKJV
[10] This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised;
[14] And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."
For Him to fulfill His covenant of giving the people the Canaan Land, they had to be brought to a round-table and have a seal of the Contract between them and God again...the CIRCUMCISION.
Joshua 5:8-9
[8] So it was, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed.
It was after the circumcision of the men, that the Lord now spoke to Joshua, this great assuring verdict:
[9] Then the LORD said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.
Reproach of Egypt was gone in their life. The curses of the Egyptians were erased in their life. The stigma of the uncircumcised have been cleared off on them. God could now walk with them and possess the land for them. Now, Israel could now see greater wonders of God. NOW IT WAS SHOW TIME! It was time to begin to possess possessions. This was the land the Lord had promised their fore-fathers, which they could not inherit. Now they had fulfill the conditions for possessing the land...the CIRCUMCISION!
A wonderous thing then happened after the Circumcision. A great Wonder.
Joshua 5:13-15
[13] And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, "Are You for us or for our adversaries?"
[14] So He said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?"
[15] Then the Commander of the LORD's army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so.
After the Circumcision of the males and the Covenant was refreshed: The Commander of the army of the LORD came from Heaven and appeared at the enterance of the Canaan Land and said: "I HAVE NOW COME!"
You have crossed over to this year of GREAT THINGS, which some servants of the Lord has called: Year of the Harvests, Year of Testimonies, Year of Praises, etc. A Year of Miraculous Completions of Seemingly Impossible Projects. BUT DON'T BE TEMPTED TO THINK YOUR UNCIRCUMCISED HEART WILL BE OVERLOOKED.
Deuteronomy 10:16 NKJV
Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer.
Deuteronomy 30:6 NKJV
And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.
THAT IS THE CIRCUMCISION THE LORD IS TALKING ABOUT....CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART. You have crossed over to this Great Year that is full of a lot of GREAT THINGS, that is loaded with a lot of testimonies and bountiful Harvest for all those who have been faithful to Him with their possessions and their time; a year that is going to be glorious for all those who have sacrificed to the Kingdom of God with their time, money and resources.
Now, you too have crossed the River, to enter this year. Now, the Lord has said you must circumcise your heart before you can be a partaker of the BLESSINGS AND HARVESTS of this Great Year. That you eventually crossed over to this great year, does not guarantee you an access to the blessings and the Miracles in it, if your heart is not yet circumcised. YOU CAN NOT WALK WITH HIM and HE CAN NOT WORK WITH YOU, if the heart is still uncircumcised.
The foreskin covering your heart and making your heart to be hardened must be removed and cut off, so that your heart can be soft and tender to receive the Word of God and receive the Lord's directions. The foreskin of sins and unrighteousness that have enveloped your heart, must be removed and cut off. The foreskin of your heart must be removed so that the COMMANDER OF THE HOST OF HEAVEN CAN NOW COME and fight on your behalf...so that He can lead fighting while you merely follow gathering the spoils. THE BLESSINGS, THE MIRACLES, THE WONDERS AND THE HARVESTS OF THIS YEAR ARE ONLY FOR THOSE WHO WOULD CIRCUMCISE THEIR HEARTS.
All those stubbornness of the heart must go.
All those strongheadedness of yours must go.
All those self-willfulness of yours must stop.
All those flagrant disobedience to the ways of God must cease.
All those deliberate acts of arrogance and pride of heart must end.
All those unfaifhtulness and unbelief in the Ways of God must stop.
All those conscious compromise of faith at work and on campus should come to an end.
All those lukewarmness in the things of ministry and service of God should stop.
All those proscastination of God's commands and calling into ministry should end.
THE COMMANDER OF THE HOST OF THE LORD WILL NOW COME TO HELP YOU AFTER THE CIRCUMCISIONS OF THE HEART HAVE BEEN OBSERVED.
And how can you do this?
Where have you known that you have missed it? Come to the Lord, fall on your face before him like Joshua, and submit yourself before Him for forgiveness and repentance. Call upon Him for Mercy and confess all these errors and blunders that have crossed-over with you. HE WILL CLEANSE YOUR HEART AND MAKE IT NEW AGAIN, then:
YOU CAN NOW WALK WITH HIM and
HE CAN WORK WITH YOU.
It is well with you.
