"WHEN THE HEAVENS FIGHT FOR YOU"

Joshua 10:11-13 NKJV
[11] And it happened, as they fled before Israel and were on the descent of Beth Horon, that the LORD cast down large hailstones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword.
[12] Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon."
[13] So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

Many years ago, when I was in the Teachers' College, the Christian Fellowship drama group had had a long preparation for a very powerful drama ministration. We had spent weeks preparing for the drama night and many of our lecturers had been informed and invited for the drama presentation. We had circulated marker-written posters and pasted them all over the school buildings and the news had reached the inner part of Shaki where the Teachers' College was based that a drama was to hold in the school.

Then, the day came for the drama production. The drama group of the fellowship had been fasting till the evening. We were having our last briefings towards the evening when the presentaton would take place, then, we began to hear some splattering of rains on the zinc roof of our meeting place. We all froze as the sound was becoming heavier. It had began to rain. What would happen to all our preparations? What would happen to people who wanted to come from inside the town? The rain was getting heavier as we were thinking of what to do. Then, suddenly, it dawn on us that the only thing for us to do was to pray.

So all of us suspended what we were doing and came out of the room of meeting, we raised up our hands and pointed to the sky and commanded the rain to stop. We kept giving the command for some time and the rain began gradually to reduce in tempo. Soon, it stopped raining and the drama presentation was extremely powerful that night, because neither the school or the town had ever seen such a drama production before. It was a great victory over the devil that night as students were trooping back into their hostels, lecturers were going back to their houses and the people from the town were going back to their various homes. It was victory.

About two hours later, a brother and I were in the hostel discussing about the victory of the evening, and it was going to midnight, and as we were going back to our rooms, the brother ran back to me and reminded me that the drama group had not undone what they did. They commanded the rain to stop because we wanted to have a drama presentation and we did. But now, after the drama presentation, we have not beg God to release the rain, because, a lot of the people including farmers were expecting the rainfall. Immediately, we realized we could not go and wake up the rest members of the drama group. The brother and I joined our hands together and prayed aloud that the Lord would release the rain now that the drama presentation was over. We had not slept off on our beds when there were rumbling in the sky and some minutes later, the rain came down heavily. The next morning, we were all talking about the wonders the Lord did when He made the heavens to listen to us.

In Joshua Chapter 10, the Lord did wonders for the Israelites and this gives me a great confidence of what the Lord could do for His children when they follow and obey His voice. After Joshua and the Israelites had lost Gibeon and the three minor cities to unguided decisions, they might have felt sorry again and repented before God. God in His mercy did some great things. He made five major kingdoms to come together to fight against Israel so that Israel could possess their land: The Kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon, all gathered together all their chariots and horses against Israel. the Bible says, the entire army was like the sand of the sea shore in multitude.

And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you."

How did the Lord do it? He made the heavens to fight on their behalf. When Joshua and Israel attacked the great army of the enemy cities, the army of Israel were killing them and large hail-stones from heaven were raining down upon the fleeing enemies. The Bible says, those killed by the hailstones were more than the enemies killed by Israelites soldiers. The Lord fought for them.

Secondly, while the battle was on, Joshua guessed that many of the enemies would try to escape under the cover of the night, so the only solution was him to have a longer day, so that he could see the enemies and pursue them. This was when he did what no man had ever done: He commanded the sun to stay upon Gibeon and not to set hastily, and he ordered the moon that was arising over Aijalon to stand still there till the battle was over. And the element of heaven obeyed his voice, BECAUSE GOD WAS INVOLVED IN THE BATTLE.

With this testimonies of Joshua and the element of heaven listening to him on that day alone, I AM ENCOURAGED THAT THERE NOTHING THE LORD CAN NOT DO FOR ME WHEN HE IS INVOLVED IN MY FIGHT.

AND I AM HAPPY TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS YEAR, WHEN YOU FOLLOW THE LORD AND OBEY HIS VOICE AND DO HIS WILL, HE CAN MAKE THE HEAVENS FIGHT ON YOUR BEHALF, THAT YOU WILL NOT NEED TO FIGHT ANY WAR BUT STAND STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD.

This year is a Great Year, Heavens fighting for you is one of the Benefits of this year, when you learn to Follow the Lord and Listening to His voice continually.
